♦ According to the Hurun Global Rich List 2026, Mukesh Ambani continues to hold the title of India’s richest person and also remains Asia’s wealthiest individual. His total wealth rose by about 9% over the past year to reach Rs.9.8 lakh crore. Gautam Adani retained the second spot on the list. His net worth dropped by about 14% to Rs.7.5 lakh crore.

♦ Hurun said, India now has 308 billionaires with a combined wealth of around Rs.112 lakh crore. The country remains the third-largest hub for billionaires globally, behind only the US and China.

♦ The average wealth of Indian billionaires stands at about Rs.36,570 crore, which is higher than the average wealth of Chinese billionaires, according to the Hurun Global Rich List 2026.

♦ Mumbai continues to dominate India’s billionaire landscape. The city has 95 billionaires, though it has lost its status as Asia’s billionaire capital to Shenzhen.

♦ Sector-wise, healthcare produced the highest number of new Indian billionaires, adding 53 entrants. This was followed by industrial products (36 entrants) and consumer goods (31 entrants). The energy sector, despite having only eight entrants, generated Rs 18.3 lakh crore of wealth, accounting for 16% of India’s cumulative billionaire wealth.

♦ India’s youngest billionaire on the list is Ritesh Agarwal of OYO, aged 32, with a net worth of Rs 14,440 crore.

♦ Globally, the number of billionaires has crossed 4,000 for the first time, reaching 4,020 individuals, the report said. Elon Musk remained the world’s richest person with wealth of $792 billion, followed by Jeff Bezos and Larry Page.
