♦The Punjab govt's power department has appointed Harsharan Kaur Trehan as the new Director (commercial) of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) for a tenure of two years.

♦ She became the first woman director in PSPCL's history.

♦ Trehan has been serving in the power sector for over 35 years. 

♦ Earlier, in May 2021, she had become the first woman Engineer-in-Chief in PSPCL, heading the Material Management wing.

♦ She retired in October 2022 from that position.
