♦ Goa police has become the first state police force in India to achieve a 100% response rate in cyber fraud calls. Its cyber fraud call centre received over 5,000 calls, and 581 complaints were registered. They also successfully responded to around 1,500 missed calls, thereby ensuring 100% accessibility.
♦ The 1930 cloud-based call centre was launched last month (October) and inaugurated by Union home minister Amit Shah. The new system provides the complainants’ details such as mobile number, name, date and time of the call, which makes it easier for the police to contact the complainant.
♦ As of now, cyber fraudsters have cheated Goans to the tune of Rs 100 crore. Police sources said that this is just the official figure, but actual amount could be much more. Last year, fraudsters cheated Goans to the tune of Rs 101 crore.
