♦ U.S. President-elect Donald Trump announces the establishment of a new “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE), to be led by Tesla CEO Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy on 13 November 2024.

♦ The department is tasked with reducing government bureaucracy, cutting excess regulations, and eliminating wasteful spending. 

♦ Trump has selected Army veteran and TV personality Pete Hegseth as his Defense Secretary. Hegseth served in Iraq and Afghanistan and has been with a cable news giant since 2014.

♦ Republican Congressman Mike Waltz, who has been co-chair of the India Caucus in the House of Representatives, has been selected as the next National Security Advisor.
