♦ Deepthi Jeevanji won the bronze medal in the women’s 400m T20 final with a timing of 55.82s at the Paris Paralympics on 3 September 2024. She became the first intellectually impaired Indian athlete to win a Paralympic medal. Ukraine’s Yulia Shuliar (55.16s) and Turkiye's Ayser Onder (55.23s) clinched the gold, and silver medals respectively.
♦ The T20 class is reserved for athletes with intellectual impairments. Deepthi is India’s first-ever athlete in this category to compete at the Paralympic Games, faces cognitive challenges that affect her communication and understanding skills.
