♦ The Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB)  has recommended Deepak Gupta as the next Chairman and Managing Director of GAIL (India) Ltd.

♦ He is currently Director (Projects) at GAIL (India) Ltd.  Gupta is set to succeed Sandeep Kumar Gupta, who is scheduled to retire on 28 February 2026. 

♦ The PESB conducted interviews to identify a suitable candidate for the CMD post.

♦ A total of 12 senior professionals from GAIL and other leading public sector undertakings appeared for the interview.
