♦ Deepak Agarwal was appointed as the Managing Director (MD) of the National Agriculture Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED) for a five-year term. He is a 2000-batch IAS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre.

♦ Earlier, on 30 September 2024, the government had appointed Pankaj Kumar Bansal, the Additional Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, to hold the post of MD, NAFED temporarily. 

♦ NAFED was established in 1958. It is a crucial player in India’s agricultural sector, functioning as a cooperative marketing organization. It aims to promote the welfare of Indian farmers by ensuring fair prices for their produce and providing market linkage.
