India ranked 93 out of 180 countries in the 2023 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI). This was made up by Transparency International. In 2023, India's overall score was 39 while in 2022, it was 40. India's rank in 2022 was 85.

♦ For the sixth consecutive year, Denmark secures the top position on the index with a score of 90. Finland and New Zealand hold the second and third positions with scores of 87 and 85, respectively. The top 10 countries on the index include Norway (84), Singapore (83), Sweden (82), Switzerland (82), the Netherlands (79), Germany (78), and Luxembourg (78).

♦ Taking the bottom spots in the index are Somalia (11), Venezuela (13), Syria (13), South Sudan (13), and Yemen (16). 

♦ Pakistan bagged 133 and Sri Lanka got 115, China 76, Bangladesh at 149 ranks in this index.

♦ The index, which ranks 180 countries and territories by their perceived levels of public sector corruption according to experts and business people, uses a scale of 0 to 100, where 0 is highly corrupt and 100 is very clean.
