♦ Field Marshal Asim Munir was appointed as Pakistan's first Chief of Defence Forces for a period of five years. He will continue to hold the office of Chief of Army Staff simultaneously. Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has approved his appointment on 5 December 2025.

♦ The Chief of Defence Forces' role was established last month under the 27th Amendment to the Constitution, aiming to centralise military command. The CDF replaced the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), a post that was abolished.
