♦ Hockey India announced that the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024 hockey tournament will be hosted in Rajgir, Bihar, from November 11-20. The tournament will take place at the newly constructed Rajgir Hockey Stadium. Teams from China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand will participate in this event.
♦ The 2023 Women’s Asian Champions Trophy was also played in India in Ranchi, Jharkhand. The Indian women’s hockey team beat Japan 4-0 in the final at the Jaipal Singh Stadium to win their second Women’s Asian Champions Trophy hockey title. The People’s Republic of China finished third.
♦ The Republic of Korea, the inaugural Women’s Asian Champions Trophy winners, are a record three-time champions (2010, 2011 and 2018). India and Japan have won two titles each. The Indian team also made the final in the 2013 and 2018 editions.
♦ Meanwhile, the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 men’s hockey tournament is set to start on September 8 in Hulunbuir, the People’s Republic of China.
