♦ The leader of Janataka Vimukti Peramuna, Anura Kumara Dissanayake has won Sri Lanka's presidential election on 22 September 2024. He secured 42.31 percent of the vote. Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa took second place with 32.76 percent of the vote, while outgoing President Ranil Wickremesinghe in third with 17.27 percent. Dissanayake was born on 24 November 1968.
