♦ Amitava Mukherjee was appointed as the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of state-owned iron ore miner NMDC on 6 March 2025.

♦ He has held the additional charge of CMD of the NMDC  since March 2023.

♦ Amitava Mukherjee is a 1995 batch Indian Railway Accounts Services (IRAS) officer.

♦ He served the Government of India in various capacities before ascending to the apex leadership of NMDC.

♦ He has been the Director-Finance since November 2018. He also serves as chairman of NMDC Steel and Legacy Iron Ore.
