♦ Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh was appointed the next Chief of the Air Staff on 21 September 2024. He is currently the Vice Chief of the Indian Air Force (IAF). 

♦ Amar Preet Singh will take over the top post on September 30 when the incumbent Air Chief Marshal V.R. Chaudhari retires on superannuation.

♦ Sing was born on 27 October 1964.  He was commissioned into the Indian Air Force's fighter pilot stream in December 1984. 

♦ He has served as Air Defence Commander at the South Western Air Command and as Senior Air Staff Officer at the Eastern Air Command.
