వాణిజ్యం, ఆర్థిక వ్యవస్థలో అక్రిడిటేషన్‌ పాత్రను గుర్తించే లక్ష్యంతో ఏటా జూన్‌ 9న ‘వరల్డ్‌ అక్రిడిటేషన్‌ డే’గా నిర్వహిస్తారు. ఆరోగ్య సంరక్షణ కేంద్రాలు, విద్యా సంస్థలు, ప్రయోగశాలలు, ధృవీకరణ సంస్థలు మొదలైన వాటి సామర్థ్యం, విశ్వసనీయతను నిర్ధారించడాన్ని అక్రిడిటేషన్‌ అంటారు. వినియోగదారులు, వ్యాపారాలు, నియంత్రణ సంస్థల్లో నమ్మకం, విశ్వాసాన్ని పెంపొందించడంలో అక్రిడిటేషన్‌ కీలకపాత్ర పోషిస్తుంది. ఉత్పత్తులు, సేవలు, వ్యవస్థలు అంతర్జాతీయ ప్రమాణాలకు తగ్గట్లు హామీ ఇవ్వడం ద్వారా ఇది జరుగుతుంది. దీంతో అంతర్జాతీయ వ్యాపారం సులభం కావడంతోపాటు ప్రజారోగ్యం, భద్రతకు మద్దతుగా ఉంటుంది. అక్రిడిటేషన్‌ విలువలు, ప్రయోజనాల గురించి ప్రజల్లో అవగాహన కల్పించడం ఈ రోజు ముఖ్య ఉద్దేశం. చారిత్రక నేపథ్యం: అంతర్జాతీయ వ్యాపారాన్ని దృష్టిలో ఉంచుకుని ఆయా వస్తు, సేవల స్థాయిని నిర్ధారించే ఉద్దేశంతో ఇంటర్నేషనల్‌ ల్యాబొరేటరీ అక్రిడిటేషన్‌ కోఆపరేషన్‌ (ఐఎల్‌ఏసీ) మ్యూచువల్‌ రికగ్నిషన్‌ అరేంజ్‌మెంట్‌ (ఎంఆర్‌ఏ)ను తెచ్చింది. దీన్ని 1994, జూన్‌ 9న సభ్యదేశాలు ఆమోదించాయి. 2007లో జరిగిన ఇంటర్నేషనల్‌ ల్యాబొరేటరీ అక్రిడిటేషన్‌ కోఆపరేషన్‌ (ఐఎల్‌ఏసీ), ఇంటర్నేషనల్‌ అక్రిడిటేషన్‌ ఫోరం (ఐఏఎఫ్‌) ఉమ్మడి సమావేశంలో ఏటా జూన్‌ 9న ‘వరల్డ్‌ అక్రిడిటేషన్‌ డే’గా నిర్వహించాలని తీర్మానించాయి. 2008 నుంచి ఏటా దీన్ని జరుపుతున్నారు. 2025 నినాదం: Accreditation: Empowering Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)

మహా సముద్రాల రక్షణకు అంతర్జాతీయ సభ

మహాసముద్రాల రక్షణకు ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితి ఆధ్వర్యంలో మూడో మహాసభ ఫ్రాన్స్‌లోని నీస్‌ నగరంలో 2025, జూన్‌ 9న ప్రారంభమైంది. సముద్రాలను కాపాడతామని ప్రపంచ దేశాలు ఎన్నో ఏళ్ల నుంచి చేస్తున్న వాగ్దానాలను ఆచరణలో పెట్టాలనీ, మాటలను చేతలుగా మార్చాలని ఫ్రాన్స్‌ అధ్యక్షుడు ఎమాన్యుయేల్‌ మెక్రాన్‌ పిలుపు ఇచ్చారు.   2030కల్లా 30శాతం భూమినీ, 30శాతం సముద్రాలనూ కాపాడుకోవాలని లక్ష్యంగా పెట్టుకున్నా ఇంతవరకు 2.7 శాతం సముద్రాలకే రక్షణ కల్పంచగలుగుతున్నాం. ఆ పరిమిత జలాల్లో మాత్రమే మితిమీరిన చేపల వేట, ఖనిజ తవ్వకాలను నివారించగలుగుతున్నాం అని మెక్రాన్‌ పేర్కొన్నారు.  2023లో కుదిరిన అంతర్జాతీయ సముద్ర జలాల పరిరక్షణ ఒప్పంద ముసాయిదాకు నీస్‌ మహాసభలో ఆమోద ముద్ర వేయాల్సి ఉంది. అది అమలులోకి రావాలంటే కనీసం 60 దేశాలు సమ్మతించాలి. జూన్‌ 9 నాటికి 32 దేశాలు మాత్రమే ఆమోదం తెలిపాయి. ఫ్రాన్స్, దక్షిణకొరియా, ఐరోపా సమాఖ్య (ఈయూ)లు ఆమోదం తెలిపినా, విశాల సముద్ర తీరం కలిగిన పెద్ద దేశాలు ఇంకా దారికి రాలేదు. జీ20 సభ్యదేశాల్లో అత్యధికం సమ్మతి తెలపాల్సి ఉంది. వాటిలో భారతదేశం కూడా ఉంది.

ఐసీసీ ‘హాల్‌ ఆఫ్‌ ఫేమ్‌’లో ధోని

టీమ్‌ఇండియా మాజీ కెప్టెన్‌ మహేంద్రసింగ్‌ ధోని ఐసీసీ ‘హాల్‌ ఆఫ్‌ ఫేమ్‌లో చోటు దక్కించుకున్నాడు. ఏడుగురితో కొత్తగా ప్రకటించిన జాబితాలో ధోనితో పాటు మాథ్యూ హేడెన్‌ (ఆస్ట్రేలియా), హషీమ్‌ ఆమ్లా (దక్షిణాఫ్రికా) కూడా ఉన్నారు.  2020లో అంతర్జాతీయ క్రికెట్‌కు రిటైర్మెంట్‌ ప్రకటించిన ధోని.. మూడు ఫార్మాట్లలో కలిపి 17,266 పరుగులు సాధించాడు. అతడి సారథ్యంలో భారత్‌ 2007 టీ20 ప్రపంచకప్, 2011 వన్డే ప్రపంచకప్, 2013 ఛాంపియన్స్‌ ట్రోఫీ గెలిచింది.

United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3)

♦ The third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) began in Nice, France, on 9 June 2025. ♦ This was co-hosted by the Governments of France and Costa Rica. ♦ Li Junhua, Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs at the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, serves as the Conference Secretary-General. ♦ The conference concludes on June 13.  ♦ France and Brazil launched a landmark international initiative to dramatically scale up ocean-focused climate action. ♦ The Blue Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) Challenge calls on all countries to place the ocean at the heart of their climate plans ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP30), which Brazil will host in November, 2025. ♦ Alongside Brazil and France, an inaugural group of eight countries — Australia, Fiji, Kenya, Mexico, Palau, and Seychelles — has already joined the initiative, committing to include the ocean in their updated climate plans under the Paris Agreement. ♦ The Fourth UN Ocean Conference (UNOC4) was announced to be co-hosted by Chile and the Republic of Korea in 2028.

MS Dhoni

♦ Indian wicketkeeper-batter and former captain MS Dhoni was inducted into the prestigious ICC Hall of Fame. ♦ The International Cricket Council announced that Dhoni was among seven cricketers honoured this year (2025).  ♦ Apart from Dhoni, the other male cricketers to get the honour were South Africa's Hashim Amla, former Australia opener Matthew Hayden, former South Africa captain Graeme Smith, and New Zealand great Daniel Vettori. ♦ Pakistan's Sana Mir and former England wicketkeeper-batter Sarah Taylor were the two women inductees who took the total Hall of Famers to 122. ♦ Dhoni, who led India to three major ICC titles – the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy. ♦ Across formats, Dhoni accumulated 17,266 runs, effected 829 dismissals behind the stumps, and played 538 international matches – a testament to his consistency, fitness, and longevity.

Digital India Bhashini Division (DIBD)

♦ Digital India Bhashini Division (DIBD) and the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development and deployment of multilingual artificial intelligence solutions across key public-facing railway platforms on 9 June 2025. ♦ The MoU was formally signed by CEO of BHASHINI Amitabh Nag and Managing Director of CRIS G.V.L. Satya Kumar in New Delhi.  ♦ The strategic partnership aims to integrate BHASHINI’s state-of-the-art language technology stack, comprising Automatic Speech Recognition, Text-to-Text Translation, Text-to-Speech, and Optical Character Recognition, into CRIS-managed systems such as the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) and RailMadad. ♦ This will enable citizens to access critical railway services in 22 Indian languages.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY)

♦ The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) has now crossed 55.02 crore account openings as of March 7, 2025. ♦ This was launched in August 2014 as part of the National Mission for Financial Inclusion (NMFI). ♦ Of these, 36.63 crore accounts have been opened in rural and semi-urban areas, extending formal banking access to vast segments of previously unbanked citizens. ♦ The Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), which offers accident insurance at an annual premium of just Rs.20, has enrolled 50.30 crore individuals. ♦ Beneficiaries receive Rs.2 lakh coverage for death or permanent disability, and Rs.1 lakh for partial disability. ♦ The Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), providing life insurance coverage of Rs.2 lakh for a yearly premium of Rs.436, has reached 23.21 crore people. ♦ The Atal Pension Yojana (APY), designed for workers in the unorganised sector, has garnered 7.49 crore enrolments. ♦ The scheme offers fixed pension payouts ranging from Rs.1,000 to Rs.5,000 per month after the subscriber turns 60, depending on their contribution. ♦ Meanwhile, the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) has empowered small and micro-entrepreneurs by facilitating 52.07 crore loans amounting to Rs.33.19 lakh crore since inception. ♦ The scheme provides access to institutional credit of up to Rs.20 lakh for non-farm, income-generating activities.
