Global industry body International Copper Association (ICA)

♦ Global industry body International Copper Association (ICA) elected Aditya Birla Group firm Hindalco Industries Ltd. as its newest member on 25 October 2024. Hindalco Industries has been operating since 1958. It is the metals flagship firm of the Aditya Birla Group, which is a leading copper and aluminium producer.  ♦ ICA was formally created in 1989. It is a not-for-profit trade association representing half the world’s copper production, with 33 members across 6 continents. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., we operate in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Indian Institute of Management (IIM)

♦ Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) to foster entrepreneurship in the North-East on 25 October 2024. ♦ The partnership introduces the Skill to Enterprise Model (STEM) Programme, which will equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the necessary skills, knowledge, and mentorship to build sustainable businesses. ♦ The initiative will offer an 18-month entrepreneurship training programme for 30 selected participants, combining classroom learning, hands-on experience, and incubation support.

Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY)

♦ The government announced the Tarun Plus category under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) on 25 October 2024.  In this banks can sanction loans up to Rs.20 lakh. This decision was announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as part of the Union Budget for 2024-25 in July 2024. ♦ This category will offer loans ranging from 10 lakh rupees to 20 lakh rupees for entrepreneurs who have repaid their previous Tarun loans.  ♦ PMMY loans up to Rs.20 lakh will be provided under the Credit Guarantee Fund for Micro Units (CGFMU). ♦ As per the existing scheme, banks provide collateral-free loans up to Rs.10 lakh under three categories-Shishu (up to Rs.50,000), Kishore (between Rs.50,000 and Rs.5 lakh) and Tarun (Rs.10 lakh).

The German Embassy

♦ The German Embassy in New Delhi held the fifth edition of its GSDP Conversation Series at IIT Delhi on 25 October 2024. It focussed on “The Future of Work in the Digital Era: Indo-German Skills Development in Education and Training.” The event brought together leaders from academia, industry, and government to discuss labor market trends and the growing need for green and digital skills. ♦ This event is part of the Indo-German Partnership for Green and Sustainable Development (GSDP), initiated in 2022 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. It aligns with global sustainability frameworks like the 2030 Agenda, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Paris Agreement, fostering cooperation between the two nations in education and sustainable development. ♦ The GSDP Conversation Series, signed during the 6th Indo-German Cabinet Consultations in Berlin in 2022, aims to strengthen cooperation between the two nations through regular networking and exchange of ideas. The series is hosted by the German Embassy in collaboration with BMZ, GIZ, the KfW Development Bank, and the German National Metrology Institute.

Narendra Modi

♦ Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was co-chair the seventh Intergovernmental Consultations (IGC) at Hyderabad House on 25 October 2024. ♦ Both leaders discussed expanding collaboration in key areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and clean energy.  ♦ The two countries signed several treaties, agreements and documents including on Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) in Criminal Matters, Agreement on the Exchange and Mutual Protection of Classified Information, Indo-German Green Hydrogen       Road Map, Road Map on Innovation and Technology, and Joint Declaration of Intent for Joint Cooperation in Research and Development on Advanced Materials. ♦ The IGC is a biannual exercise. The last IGC was held in Berlin in May 2022.

బ్లూజే ఏరోస్పేస్‌

నిట్ట నిలువుగా టేకాఫ్‌ తీసుకోవడంతో పాటు, భూమి మీదకు దిగే సామర్థ్యం (వీటీఓఎల్‌) ఉన్న మానవ రహిత సరకు రవాణా విమానాన్ని బ్లూజే ఏరోస్పేస్‌ ఆవిష్కరించింది. దీని పనితీరును హైదరాబాద్‌ సమీపంలోని నాదర్‌గుల్‌ ఎయిర్‌ఫీల్డ్‌లో ప్రయోగాత్మకంగా పరీక్షించింది. 100 కిలోల బరువును 300 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరం మోసుకెళ్లే సామర్థ్యం దీనికి ఉందని సంస్థ పేర్కొంది.   హైదరాబాద్‌ కేంద్రంగా 2022లో ప్రారంభించిన బ్లూజే ఏరోస్పేస్‌ ఇప్పటి వరకూ రూ.18 కోట్ల పెట్టుబడులను సమీకరించింది.

పీఎమ్‌ఎమ్‌పై

ప్రధాన్‌ మంత్రి ముద్రా యోజన (పీఎమ్‌ఎమ్‌వై) కింద ఇచ్చే రుణాల పరిమితిని రెట్టింపు చేసి రూ.20 లక్షలుగా 2024, అక్టోబరు 25న కేంద్రం సవరించింది. దేశంలో ఔత్సాహిక పారిశ్రామికవేత్తలకు ప్రోత్సాహం ఇవ్వడం కోసం ఈ నిర్ణయం తీసుకుంది. ముద్రా పథకం ప్రధాన లక్ష్యమైన ‘పథకాల లబ్ధి అందని వారికి నిధులందించడా’న్ని మరింత ముందుకు తీసుకెళతామని ఆర్థిక శాఖ పేర్కొంది.  కార్పొరేట్‌ యేతర, వ్యవసాయేతర సూక్ష్మ, చిన్న స్థాయి ఔత్సాహిక పారిశ్రామికవేత్తల కోసం 2015లో పీఎమ్‌ఎమ్‌వైని ప్రధాని నరేంద్ర మోదీ ప్రవేశపెట్టారు.

21వ పశుగణన ప్రారంభం

దేశవ్యాప్తంగా 21వ పశుగణన ప్రక్రియను కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం 2024, అక్టోబరు 25న ప్రారంభించింది. 2025 ఫిబ్రవరి వరకు ఈ లెక్కింపు కొనసాగనుంది. ఇందుకోసం రూ.200 కోట్లు వ్యయం చేయనుంది.  పశువులకు ఆరోగ్య భద్రత కల్పించే దిశగా విధానాల రూపకల్పన చేసేందుకు ఈ డేటా దోహదపడుతుందని కేంద్ర మత్స్య, పశు సంవర్ధక, పాడి శాఖ మంత్రి రాజీవ్‌ రంజన్‌ సింగ్‌ తెలిపారు. పశు పోషణ రంగంలో అధిక వృద్ధిని సాధించేందుకూ అది ఉపయోగపడుతుందని పేర్కొన్నారు. దేశవ్యాప్తంగా దాదాపు లక్ష మంది క్షేత్రస్థాయి అధికారులు పశుగణన ప్రక్రియలో పాల్గొంటారని వెల్లడించారు.

ఒలాఫ్‌ షోల్జ్‌తో మోదీ భేటీ

భారత్‌-జర్మనీ ఏడో అంతర్‌ప్రభుత్వ సంప్రదింపుల్లో భాగంగా ఆ దేశ ఛాన్స్‌లర్‌ ఒలాఫ్‌ షోల్జ్‌తో మోదీ దిల్లీలో 2024, అక్టోబరు 25న భేటీ అయ్యారు. వివిధ ద్వైపాక్షిక, ప్రాంతీయ, అంతర్జాతీయ అంశాలపై చర్చించారు.   ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా నెలకొన్న సంక్షోభ పరిస్థితులను తట్టుకొని భారత్, జర్మనీ మధ్య వ్యూహాత్మక బంధం గట్టిగా నిలబడగలిగిందని మోదీ అన్నారు. భారత్‌తో మరింత పటిష్ఠ బంధం కోసం జర్మనీ ప్రకటించిన ‘ఫోకస్‌ ఆన్‌ ఇండియా’ వ్యూహాన్ని మోదీ స్వాగతించారు.  ‘నేర వ్యవహారాల్లో పరస్పర న్యాయ సహాయ ఒడంబడిక’ సహా 18 ఒప్పందాలు/పత్రాలపై భారత్, జర్మనీ సంతకాలు చేశాయి.
