The German world No. 2 claimed the men's singles title at the 2026 US Open in Queens, New York. He defeated Ben Shelton (USA) with 6-3, 7-6(2), 5-7, 6-2 in the final. The triumph made Zverev only the second German in the Open Era after Boris Becker (1989) to be crowned the US Open Champion.

• Overall, since 1968, Zverev is the 32nd different men’s singles winner at Flushing Meadows. Jimmy Connors, Pete Sampras Roger Federer remains the most decorated male champions in New York with five titles each.

• The Olympic tennis gold medallist from Tokyo 2020 in 2021, Zverev, won his 26th career title, having captured his maiden major at the French Open in June 2026.
