♦ National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI)-operated Unified Payments Interface (UPI) recorded its highest-ever monthly transaction volume and value in May 2026. The platform processed 23.2 billion transactions during the month, with the total transaction value reaching Rs 29.9 trillion. The latest figures mark an increase from April 2026, when UPI recorded 22.35 billion transactions worth Rs 29.03 trillion. On a month-on-month basis, transaction volume grew by about 4 percent, while transaction value rose by nearly 3 percent.

♦ Compared with May 2025, UPI transactions increased by 24 percent in volume and 19 percent in value. In May last year, the platform processed 18.67 billion transactions, while the total transaction value stood at Rs 25.14 trillion.
