Kishor Makwana (58) was appointed as the new chairperson of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes on 9 March 2024. He is a spokesperson of the Gujarat unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). 

Love Kush Kumar from Bijnor in UP and Vaddepalli Ramchander from Telangana were appointed as new members. The tenure of the Commission is three years and this is the 7th Commission.
